What a fabulous week!

Hi hi!
I have a lot to chat about so I'm going to divide it up into two or so posts over the next while.
I have had a fabulous week!

Day 1. A friend bought me my dream bike as a pre-birthday surprise! Oh it's love. Yes I do already have two, but this one is different I swear. Her name is Ruby. I really really do love old bikes.

Day 2. I got interviewed for the Age about opshopping. That was a bit exciting. A few of you spotted it, but if you missed out you can read my very daggy quotes here.

Day 3. I officially decided on a time frame until I open the shop I have been dreaming about for years. I have two years of planning ahead of me, and March 2011 will be my grand opening. Oh the excitement.

Day 4. I met up with a good friend who I haven't seen in SO long, we had a very 'romantic' dinner in St Kilda and will be doing so again in 2 weeks! Yee.

Day 5. I have made contact with a lady who I buy bulk vintage off, and who will now be another set of eyes for me and my shop! I bought an extremely huge amount of amazing pieces off her (the reason for needing a whole separate blog for it) Including hand made 1950's gowns and just amazing bits and pieces. She's a blessing for me, and such a lovely lady.

Day 6. Dad came over and helped lay down new lino in the kitchen, it's not very inventive or anything but hey, it suits my house.

Day 7. This was just in time for my second interview which is happening tonight! Kat and Hayley from Melbourne Street Fashion are coming to visit my home tonight for an interview which I'm very nervous about, but excited at the same time. I shall be sure to keep you updated with links to the interview etc!
I have not a THING in the fridge except grated cheese and cordial and no time to go and get some treats, so I fear I won't be a great hostess. Eep.

With my house so tidy, and my new lino down, I just had to pull out the camera.
I thought I'd give you a tour of my little house :)

I'm looking forward to retiring my imac to my television and investing in a macbook as my main computer. My dressing table just isn't the place for it.

I promised no more wardrobe photos as much as I love taking them, so you'll just have to scroll back if you'd like to perve haha.

Lastly and of course most importantly.... Velour, only the greatest vintage store in Melbourne, and the place I love to call my work, is having a HUGE sale.

Be sure to come and visit, I bet even I'll leave with some goodies.... and perhaps a few cupcakes under my belt :)

Double Denim?

Ok so this blog is HUGE. I've been meaning to do it for ages but there was so much stuff to photograph that I kept putting it off, and then I'd buy more stuff, and the job would be even bigger, so I'd put it off.... and then today I looked at the ridiculous pile next to my desk and had enough so I'm finally posting!!!
Again I'm way too busy, I'm thankful there's not more hours in the day or I'm sure they'd get filled up too!
Ok here goes. Photo overload time.

So today being my first opshopping day in what feels like ages (besides going to the ones before and after work) I was ready for a big one and boy did I have it.
I was stoaked when I found the following acid wash hat that I couldn't resist putting together an ensemble of acid wash denim and the result is a little bit foul but a ton of fun haha.

That'd be Vest, Pants, Jacket, Bag, and Hat. I considered layering with a matching skirt, but thought it might clash a bit? haha.

Spew? Feel free. I spew at double denim never mind..... er that.

Again with my whole 'I'm so busy wah wah wah' well I haven't even had time to photograph my outfits, so I did a reprise today in the ones I can remember or at least were excited about.
I bought both the dresses last week too!

First was this tie die number which is WOW. The dying is so detailed and amazing. And it has a pocket, and we all love a pocket.

Second is this dress which I bought from savers for a mere $5.99. I didn't know savers priced ANYTHING at $5.99 never mind this gem. I love it and it fits me perfectly.
You'll never guess the maker. You will have come across them in almost every Australian opshop.... Stitches! Mmhm! Stitches made a rad non nanna dress!!

And here come the finds.... Oh this is going to take ages.
In the order my photobucket put them in...

Cute light knit

Mum spotted this dear!

Ooh lah jealous? They're 1 size too big... insoles for me.

YUM!

These two dresses are home made and by the same pattern... These and quite a few other home made dresses including the above tie dye dress were just put on the floor the same time I walked in... The lady thought I was crazy I think.

50's brooch and pretty plastic daisy earings

When buying these pants I actually thought they'd be something Skye would wear, so I'll use her as an influence when I'm feeling a bit daring.

This dress is AMAZING. Another by the home made lady and pwoah, the layers, the fabric, the bell sleeves, aargh.

This is also home made, and so amazing on. I feel about 5 years old in it.

Again home made, a 1950's dress.

Close to one of my favorite items is this bed spread! Do I need say why? Prettyyyy.

Mum found this for me for $1. A whole roll of orange flowered wallpaper! Bargain.

Not so much a find, but an eBay 'investment' into my recreation needs.

Told you this was long hey?

Pretty sheep.

Ok yes, I do realise the plaid trend was murdered last winter, but it won't stop me wearing it. I've been a plaid wearer for years and I refuse to let it go.
This is a sweeeeet hoodie, that is exactly my size and its from the 90's I think. There's a whole lot of love going towards this jacket.

Silk Mickey tie. I get all nostalgic with old Mickey Mouse things. I loved the old cartoons, I've only recently rewatched them on Youtube (what would we do without it?) and my gosh they're SO clever and so entertaining! I do recommend a rewatch.

These glasses caught my eye as soon as I walked in. Every time Dad visits my house there is a crack made about my crappy glasses. (see below)

He will either ask for 5 glasses of water, or say could I please have a 'straw' of water. They hold nothing I know, but they're very pretty.
Well at least now I have glasses that he won't complain about and are still pretty.

Another find Mum found. Flower power table cloth! Oh I can't wait to free up my dining room table. (It's currently my desk)

Check out these torture pants. Discoooooo. Gosh you'd get so sweaty in these. However they are gold and fantastic so definately worth the buy.

This suit cost me a bit (well in comparison to my usual under $5 or $10 buys)but I had to have it. It fits me, and the colours and the work gone into it is incredible. It's such an 80's power suit, I love it.

My god did I buy anything not home made? Whoever wore this prom dress in the 80's must have felt a million dollars. It's amazing.
I used to have maybe 40 prom dresses from the 80's. I really do love them. They're just so bad taste. However storage became a big problem and I had to cull. So now I just keep/buy the strange ones.

Lastly... YES LASTLY!!! The last thing Mum bought for me. This 1950's dressing table chair. Oh I love it. I love everything don't I? Well I really love this. I see them sometimes but never with the back on it, and rarely in such good condition. It suits my room completely! Yey.

I'm DONE!! :):)

Now I have 51 blog lovin's to catch up on! Aargh

Dinner first.

Have a lovely night if you're not already asleep!

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Hii
Lots of photos to share! So many finds over the week!
But first, I have news on poor Rainbow Brite.
Unfortunately the marker didn't come off after various attempts with so many different remedies. Sigh.
It didn't even budge a bit. It was way too embedded into the plastic, permanently stained, and the paint on the doll started to come away. Oh wellll.

In happier news, I have had a great week.

Here are some of my outfits

Today I scared myself. I went to work thinking that I was wearing leggings as pants. It's true. I know, I was so disappointed in myself. However, I have now been informed that they aren't leggings, they're actually slacks from the 60's era. when stretch was all new. Thank god!
I'd like you to meet my Beetlejuice 'slacks' not leggings. I am a walking optical illusion.

A friend and I went and met the local cows.
Cows are by far my favorite animal, I was that person who used to collect them. I even took a photo of my collection and sent it into TV hits to try and win a price.
Every Christmas as you all nagged for a pony, I was the one saying "Pah-leaaaase, I'll never ask for another Christmas or Birthday present ever ever again if I can just have a cowwww" The desire has never left me, so when we pass paddocks I NEED to stop. I will have one one day, and her name will be Daisy. Original huh?

And this is outfit number three. Meh.

And here are some of the things I've bought.

My favorite new dress, oh it's been made so well.

This dress looks foul on the hanger, but the fabric is amazing and really is quite a lovely little dress in real life.

Best book, I'm going to (try) and make so many of these over winter!!! I'm pretty excited.

Cute table-cloth

Best cardigan. The little cherries are baubles. Cute much?

This is also my favorite dress of the week... maybe month? maybe a long time... look at the cute detail in the belt.

This suitcase was brought into my costume shop job, full of home made costumes from the 70's. The lady had stored them for so long and thought it'd be best to pass down and be used.
How sweet. Even more sweet is that I got to take home the rugged old suitcase filled with home made lavender balls.
I've done something so very unoriginal and used it as a display shelf.

I also got this over coaty dressy number which is too big :( but oh so lovely. It's home made and has a split right up the front to show off the dress you wear underneath I presume. lovely

Lastly, this cute skirt. I really want a new word for 'cute' I overuse it and it bugs me.

So I've been doing MASSIVE clean outs... So far I have nearly 80 items of clothing to sell at Camby.
My room is a MESS!
It's so much fun to clear out the summer and re-replace with the winter. I still have so many boxes and bags to go through. Can't wait, I feel so organized... well I will feel organised, once my wardrobe doesn't look like this!

I will keep you all posted when I get around to selling it all off.

Thanks for reading... Gosh so many photos.
Time for bed.
I will get around to replies and readings soon. I feel like I'm never home lately!
Bring on Mondayyy!
